After obtaining a degree in computer science from the University of Southern Mississippi Julian started in DCSS as an IT consultant in New Orleans, where he tackled projects for multiple industries using a diverse set of web, desktop, and database technologies. In 2006 he joined Shell in Houston as a technical specialist embedding real-time software applications across upstream sites globally. Thereafter he worked in the IT innovation group, driving novel ideas around Distributed Temperature Sensing, some of them eventually adopted as an industry standard. In 2010 he became the domain expert for smart fields and well reservoir management. As of 2014 Julian worked in Shell Trading & Supply as an Innovation Lead and senior business analyst, leveraging cloud and analytics solutions. Before departing to found Crude Coefficient Julian was a Downstream IT Manager that oversaw all cybersecurity aspects for all Shell refineries and manufacturing plants around the globe.
