Piers Corfield at the Stampede Investment Forum
In the beginning of July, our CEO Piers Corfield travelled to Calgary, Canada, for the annual Stampede Investment Forum. Held over three days, this year it hosted over 60 executives from all over the world, offering them a chance to discuss Alberta’s investment opportunities in oil and gas as well as other industries.
Mayor of Calgary Naheed Nenshi and Premier Rachel Notley represented the government to welcome the guests. The two stressed the importance of tidewater pipelines, and how it is an issue to the economy of the area. The conference therefore brought together government officials with influencing investors, who also had a chance to communicate with those local to the community.
The Forum also served as a place to announce good news to the O&G sector; the revamped royalty regime that was scheduled to become available in January of 2017 is now ready for immediate usage by producers. This would please Alberta as a whole, as well, as it could bring more rigs to the area and thus create more jobs.
According to Piers himself, the trip was a success. “Attending the Stampede Investment Forum at the invitation of the Provincial Government of Alberta equipped us with a superb overview of the Albertan economy. It enabled Lars Hinrichs (Dashboard’s Business Development Manager) and myself to engage with the principal players in the government, network in the unique environment of the Stampede and visit some of the main industrial sites for the regional economy.” In addition, Piers says it was an exceptionally useful event, as he could foster new working relationships as well as strengthen existing partnerships for Dashboard in Canada.
