David has more than 25 years of Industrial experience from Aluminium, Packaging, Recycling, Automotive and Oil and Gas sectors. He has led a number of transformation and turnaround projects throughout his career and most recently as Deputy CFO at US/Oslo listed Seadrill was heavily involved in driving the digitisation agenda to improve efficiency and differentiate the groups offering to E&P customers.
Calm, unflappable and understated, David partners with business leaders and key stakeholders to put structure, control and governance into challenging business environments. In additional to David’s transformation and turnaround skill set, he has extensive commercial CFO experience in strategy, M&A and operational restructuring. Involved a number of high profile corporate financing transactions at Alcan, Novelis and Seadrill, most recently he has been working with private equity portfolio companies and SME’s across a wide range of sectors. Focusing on companies experiencing scale up challenges and in need of a strategic FD/CFO to help prepare and transform the business for growth and address short- and longer-term funding issues.
David has a master’s degree in Economics and Accountancy from Aberdeen University and is member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants for Scotland (CA) and the Instituter for Turnaround (IFT). Married to Jackie with five children, David is a British Citizen and resides in Monmouthshire, South Wales.
